Early Expressionist Charcoal drawings 1995-1996.

These are all charcoal drawings done in the mid 1990's. They represent a difficult time in my work, I suffered from depression and leaned towards darker colors, sometimes simply black and white. I used brown crate paper, rather than charcoal paper to further emphasize this feeling of gloom. I was very interested in the works of the german expressionists, particularly Edward Munch, but I feel this selection transcends any obvious correlation, and is unique in it's overwhelming emotional outpouring.

This was always one of my friend, Ron's
favorites. bout 26"x26". I believe it is
the second charcoal drawing I did back in

This painting was done while I was having
severe panic attacks for a couple months.
This is what I saw when I closed my eyes.

This was done while I was in Homer, Alaska.
I did a couple during the 3 months I spent in
Kodiak and Homer. Most of them are mediocre at
best - due mostly to the working conditions.
This one has already been sold to a psychology
professor who was reminded of Gustav Klimt.
